Anthony Close
2nd year Economics

''Hi, I’m Anthony and I am President of WTTC. I’ve been playing table tennis competitively since the age of 7 and table tennis has been a big part of my university experience. Every day I see our members wanting to improve their game and strike a good work-life balance at university. This year I hope to ensure that we are not only a top performing sport at the university but provide an environment where anyone who might want to play table tennis can feel at home.''

Michael Farmer

''When I came to uni, I hadn't played table tennis seriously before, just messed around with mates. I never thought it would become such a big part of my uni experience, but I have loved every minute of it. I have gone from a complete beginner to a member of our uni team, which has been an amazing milestone for me. What I enjoy about being in the club is the people and the atmosphere. We have many players who train regularly, social members and casual players and they all make the club what it is.''

Shreenil Vani
3rd year Economics

''Having played table tennis competitively during Secondary School, it seemed natural to come and give the club a try during first year. But since coming here, the best part has been the many events the club runs, whether it actually involves table tennis or not! Whether it's a trip for a tournament, collaborative socials with other clubs or even just the weekly visit to the pub quiz, it's always a great way to relax and meet new people.''

Sam Pattison
Leamington League Captain
4th year Maths

''I have been part of Warwick University table tennis club for 3 years - my whole time at university. I started with relatively little experience playing but the club has been great at providing opportunities for me to play and improve, especially since I started playing in the Leamington League. More importantly though, the club has given me the chance to make some amazing friends and the social aspect of the club has been a big part of my time at university. A few personal highlights of mine are winning the Dirty Duck Pub quiz, competing in the Warwick inflatable fun day and Sports Ball.''

Owen Hewett
Men's Team Captain
3rd year Maths

"Hi I'm Owen and I'm the Men's captain for WTTC. I've been playing table tennis for around 8 years, and my favourite thing about table tennis at warwick is all the great events we get involved with. From the competitive side at BUCS individuals to the truly random "Randomizer" tournament (test your tt skills with a frying pan), there really is something for everyone."

Chiara Biquet
Women's Team Captain
2nd year Engineering

''Hey everyone I’m Chiara, your women’s team captain for the next year. Besides the fun sport, socials, and activities, what I love about the club is how open and inclusive it is, and how kind the members are. This makes going on competitions like the Nottingham tournament an awesome experience because of the great group atmosphere that is created. I also love going out for weekly matches as it creates such a good bond with the members of the team. As women’s captain next year, I would like to maintain this spirit and if possible emphasize it, and have a real unity between team and non-team members, while continuing to perform well in competition.''

Claire Smith
Publicity Officer
4th year Maths

''After not enjoying table tennis in PE lessons in school, I had no intention of joining the club when I came to uni. However, after a lot of persuasion from a friend, I decided to go to a club session, and I'm so glad I did. For me, the best thing about table tennis at Warwick is the variety of events that the club organises throughout the year, from charity tournaments to giant tables. One of my highlights from last year was 24-hour table tennis. Who doesn't want to be playing table tennis at 4am outside on a freezing cold January morning?''

Dylan Thurgood
Welfare Officer
3rd year Economics

''I'm Dylan and very happy to be part of WTTC for a third year after returning from my year abroad! Absolutely everyone is welcome at WTTC as long as you have just the slightest interest in table tennis! I'm looking forward to organizing a series of charity events next year - watch out for Piazza TT, the Mixed Doubles Cup and many more!''

Sammy Kaye
Social Secretary
2nd year PPL

''I have been playing table tennis for 8 years. My favourite part of the club is the passion that the members have for table tennis which can be felt it as soon as you walk in the table tennis room.''
